FAQS

How do I schedule an appointment?

The best way to schedule is to click on this link to make an appointment. This gives you a confirmation and appointment reminder message prior to your session.

What will happen at my first appointment?

During your first session I will work to understand your needs and we will begin to develop a relationship and determine the best design for meeting (i.e. individually, as a couple or family. We will discuss individual, couple and/or family strengths and the variables that are interfering with your desired life. Also, we will consider the best meeting plan and the importance of connecting the dots in counseling with your relationships and personal life.

How much does therapy cost?

Phone consultations are free and a good way to determine if setting up an appointment is in your best interest.

Therapy fees vary depending on the type of service and insurance coverage. Please note that insurance coverage applies

to individual therapy only; couples and family therapy are offered on a private-pay basis to allow for ethical, neutral

and flexible care.

  • In-network insurance: there may be no cost, a co-pay or full fee based on if you have a deductible or not that needs to be met before your benefits kick in.

  • Out of network insurance: clients with out of network behavioral health benefits are often reimbursed 80% of the associated cost of counseling when they submit a receipt or "superbill" depicting their attendance and diagnosis.

  • Initial intake appointment: $225 for 60-70 minute session

  • Individual therapy sessions: $175 for 50 minute session

  • Couples or Family therapy sessions: $200 for 55 minute session (private pay to support ethical, neutral and flexible relational care)

  • Phone, Telehealth, or email session: $175 for 50 minute session. Email exchanges are fair estimates of words contemplated, written and read.

  • Paperwork or collateral work: all non-direct service work will be billed at $50 per 15 minutes with services clearly communicated.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes—for individual therapy only. Couples and family therapy are offered on a private-pay basis, as insurance models require an identified patient and impose limitations that are often not appropriate for relational work.

I am an in-network provider with Anthem Blue Cross / Blue Shield for individual therapy. Coverage is determined by your specific plan, and clients are responsible for verifying their behavioral health benefits directly with their insurance provider.

For all other insurance plans, I am considered out-of-network. I do not bill those plans directly. Payment is due at the time of service, and a superbill can be provided upon request for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Couples and family therapy services are self-pay only and are not billed to insurance, even if one participant has insurance coverage for individual therapy.

Why some clients choose private pay

Many clients choose private pay because it offers greater privacy, flexibility, and clinical appropriateness- particularly in couples and family therapy.

Insurance reimbursement requires a formal diagnosis, which becomes part of a permanent medical record. Some individuals, couples, and families prefer to limit this level of documentation.

Most insurance plans do not cover couples or family therapy, or require one person to be identified as the “patient,” which can complicate relational work and clinical neutrality.

Insurance plans may also limit the number, frequency, or focus of sessions, which can interrupt care. Private pay allows therapy to proceed without third-party involvement or coverage-based restrictions.

This approach allows treatment to remain focused on the needs of the individual, couple, or family…rather than the requirements of managed care.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions which are missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, unless due to death, accident or inclement weather will be charged $50 for the first occurence and $100 thereafter.
